Community Values and Honor Code

Community Values

The mission of Harvard Business School is to educate leaders who make a difference in the world. Achieving this mission requires an environment of trust and mutual respect, free expression and inquiry, and a commitment to truth, excellence, and lifelong learning. The Harvard Business Analytics Program affirms the Community Values of Harvard Business School. As a member of the HBAP Community, you are expected to abide by the following values:

  • Respect for the rights, differences, and dignity of others
  • Honest and integrity in dealing with all members of the community
  • Accountability for personal behavior

Community members have a personal responsibility to integrate these values into every aspect of their experience in the program. Through our personal commitment to these values, we can create an environment in which all can achieve their full potential.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Encompassed within our Community Values is a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We aspire to be an inclusive community—that is, a community that welcomes individuals from all backgrounds, gives them a sense of belonging, and enables them to thrive.

In 2020, Harvard Business School recognized that it must improve in order to meet these aspirations, and resolved to take action to promote racial equity and diversity. HBS created the Action Plan for Racial Equity, which begins with a clear position: Harvard Business School rejects racism in all its forms, and anti-Black racism in particular, as wrong and fundamentally inconsistent with our mission and values.

Within the Harvard Business Analytics Program, we endeavor to keep DEI top of mind in designing our programming. We also regularly highlight events and opportunities on DEI-related topics that may be of interest to our community.

We encourage you to join the #t-hbap-inclusion Slack channel, a place where HBAP students of color and allies can engage with, support, and share resources with each other. We also encourage you to seek out any student affinity groups on Slack that may be of interest to you.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your SSA or program leadership (HBAPAdmins@mail.analytics.hbs.edu).
